Dozens of foreign workers at Amazon warehouses in Saudi Arabia told how they were deceived, exploited and trapped to take work in the country. Amazon later had to pay $1.9 million USD to more than 700 contract migrant workers to address claims they were exposed to exploitative labor conditions.
Andrew Lehren and Hoda Osman were among the team that broke the story. Most of the investigation happened from abroad, because of security risks for any investigative reporter going to Saudi Arabia.
Lehren and Osman have also reported together on the fate of Palestinians living in Gaza during Israel’s recent bombardment.
In this session they will share tips, tricks and techniques to find sources and information from parts of the world where you as reporters are denied access.
